O’so Sucia ‘Bears’ It All

San Diego’s long-running bear party has a new vibe and a new venue.

GAYMPLAN: What does “O'so Sucia” mean?

O’SO SUCIA: It means “Dirty Bear” in Spanish, but also meant to be a play on words “Oh Soo Sucia!”

GAYMPLAN: Why did you start O'so Sucia parties? What did you want to do that maybe you weren't seeing at other San Diego events?

O’SO SUCIA: I started O’so Sucia, because I really wanted to bring something with Latino representation. We are Latino-owned and operated, providing a safe space for our LGBTQ+ community. I didn't really see other events doing that, it was important to me and my team that we had a place at the table in nightlife, to have visibility and acceptance and equally take up space and unapologetically be gay. Proud and Sucia AF.

GAYMPLAN: What would you say differentiates your parties from others?

O’SO SUCIA: Being Latino owned and operated we really wanted to take the opportunity to highlight Latino/Latinx/ BIPOC/ trans and drag artists in our talent, from our go-go dancers to our DJs and guest hosts, we

wanted to make sure that we offered that diversity. A lot of promoters and events can say "all are welcome," but I think it speaks volumes to actually have that represented in the talent, and for us it's not a one time gig to do that. We do it all the time. I feel when your guests can identify themselves as apart of your event, they feel seen and safe and know they are in for a good time.

We also like highlighting local LGBTQ+ business, so you'll see pop up shops from AMARRADO Leather and Porchlight Cookies at our events. As well as having black owed LGBTQ+ business like BEEFY BOY Underwear be a sponsor for us. Being able to share the spotlight with them for our event allows that representation to matter. At the end of the day, we're helping uplift each other, which is really amazing, and we are grateful to be kept in such great company.

GAYMPLAN: What should people expect at an O'so Sucia event?

O’SO SUCIA: A really fun sexy time. We are an underwear party for men, bears, and their admirers. Being in your undies is not mandatory but it doesn't hurt.

GAYMPLAN: What should people wear?

O’SO SUCIA: Whatever they feel comfortable and sexy in.

GAYMPLAN: What's the music situation like typically?

O’SO SUCIA: We have great DJs, and they all have their own style. We really love having music that has a strong hip hop/ R&B/ pop/ dance/ top 40/ disco/ house influence. There needs to be vocals! No pots and pans/ 5am bathhouse music. The vibe is you and your besties getting ready for the club, and you get to the club, and it's all your favorite bops!

GAYMPLAN: What would you tell someone who’s nervous about going to something like this?

O’SO SUCIA: Don't be!

GAYMPLAN: What do you dislike seeing at your parties?

O’SO SUCIA: Transphobia. And we have not experienced that, but it's something we will not tolerate. Our trans brothers and sisters are equally apart of our community and deserve to have a fun night in our safe spaces.

GAYMPLAN: What do you love seeing at your parties?

O’SO SUCIA: I love seeing people with smiles on their faces and hearing them laugh with their friends that they are having a great time.

GAYMPLAN: What are some of the challenges of putting these parties on?

O’SO SUCIA: The challenge for me is always, "Did we do enough? What can we do to elevate?” I always wanna be better than what we did last time, I want our guests to always feel like they are gonna have a kiki no matter what, that their hard earned money they worked for was well spent on a ticket to support us.

GAYMPLAN: How has holding events at Urban Mo's been compared to other venues in the past?

O’SO SUCIA: We have loved collaborating with all the venues we have worked with, but Urban Mo’s has been a dream to work with. GG, Mariam T, and the staff of Urban Mo’s have been so helpful and welcoming to us, they really believe in us and care about the success of our event.

GAYMPLAN: How do your San Diego events differ from ones in other cities?

O’SO SUCIA: I have to say there isnt much of a difference other than their locations. Lol. When people come to an O’so Sucia event, they show up and show out ready for a good time, and we love that.

GAYMPLAN: Do you have plans to expand to other cities or hold more parties?

O’SO SUCIA: Yes of course! We have the rest of 2026 in San Diego locked down, and 2027 is looking promising. We are currently in LA at Precinct. Our next event there is Saturday September 12, a special Onlyfans edition of SLUTTER CAMP. We are currently talking about getting Palm Springs on the map. And, of course, I would love to get to San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and P-Town, SUCIA domination! LOL! But I'm enjoying where we are at the moment, more growth will come in time.

GAYMPLAN: Anything else you want to add?

O’SO SUCIA: Thank you! Thank to anyone who has ever bought a ticket to our event and supported us. We couldn't do it without you. Thank you for making us part of your Saturday night social calendar. Please join us at Urban Mo’s on Saturday August 22, as we celebrate our 3-year anniversary! Cheers!

GAYMPLAN: Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us. See you at the next one!

O’SO SUCIA: You’re very welcome!
